Now that I have a forge, I am in need of tools. I need assorted tools such as tongs, chisels, hold fasts and other tools of destruction.

I had built a tuyere that was not producing the heat it needed to.
I bought a weed killer that Harbor Freight has and modified it a bit.

This has the force to produce the heat needed. May bee a bit more than I want at full throttle.

I finisehed my post vise by forging a spring and a wedge. I have also made a hold down and hot cut chisel.
A short video.
Keep in mind friends, this is new ground for me. I am learning and loving it. My goal is to produce hardware for my woodworking projects and some crude tools.I need hinges, pulls and hooks the most and I think that will be a good start. Thanks to my friends for there support and help. I hope to learn a lot more so tag along we might learn something.

Dave,
Things look to be coming together nicely. That’s a lot of heat at full blast.
I am envious.
Mike
Thanks Mike. Yep it gets a bit warm standing next to it as well. Keep in mind there is NO regulator on the weed killer. It is a straight hose with a needle valve. Bit scarey.
Whoa Dave……full bore looks a little scary!! That is really quite a setup you got there….you are figuring it all out…….wow………..and the vice is just cool – nice work on the spring………
Thank you Jeff, yep it is a bit scary. I am trying to get there. I still want coal. I will get there with time. Thanks for stopping by.
You are on your way to the past….
YOU must be very excited to be making your own tools, that YOU will use to make the hardware for the WW projects YOU create!!! Good for you! I’m looking forward to seeing your progress and YOUR tool/hardware forgings. Keep POUNDING away at it, your cookin’ with gas!!!
Randy I am. Now learning the metallurgy is next. You make me smile. Now I need a project that needs some hardware. Or a horse to shoe.
Dave looks to be going together well, just a jack of all trades ,want be long and you,ll be making a iron lock ,to go with that wooden one ,
Now a lock for a box would be cool. My father would tell me “boy you know a little about everything, but you you know nothing about everything.” Every day we learn.
Thanks Eddie!
That’s amazing Dave. And what’s even more amaizing is I remembered my password to get back in here…..
I am glad you could, good to see you poking around the site again. What will be amazing is if I can really make something.
Keep on truckin Marty.
Great show Dave!
Thank you very much. Thank you for viewing.
Come again!
