It has been great fun. When i first got in his classes the first thing that caught my eye was his walking cane.

Paul offers years of his craft to you with a lot of insight to the tools and stories of woodworking history ovr the big pond.
So if you would like to see Dave build one of these come on along. Get a cup of coffee and sit a spell.

Its a bit long but I have a few tips and tricks in the video. Paul offers a lot more on his site.

Thanks for all you do.I have almost reached 4k subs at YouTube. Thanks to you!

Please be careful. Some of the things I do are dangerous. It is not my fault if you get hurt. Use your brain, be safe.

Hi, Dave! I sent a link to this to my son. He wants to build a cane for his grandmother. He’s not into hand tools like I am, though. I’m trying to mend his ways! What is that tool on the bench at 12:20 touching the cane handle? It looks like a half of a spoke shave! Your canes turned out beautifully! Thanks for sharing.

It is half a spoke shave. Its double sided and was made that way. It will cut on the pull or push. I got it in a tool lot and love it. Thank u for the kind words. I havent been online much in a few months. I was like 6 months behind on my email. Best of wishes with your son.

Very interesting. It has two blades? Any idea who made it? Have you used it in another video? Always good to hear from you, Dave. I know you have your hands full. Thank you for responding. All my best to you and Betty.

  2. My camera beeps when the battery is low but the beep is so quiet I have to be standing over it when it beeps in order to hear it. I don’t miss it as often as I use to. Seems like the more complicated the job the more I concentrate on getting it right and the better chance I’ll lose the video.
I’d complain to the camera man if it did any good. If I’m not careful he’ll just fold up and drop the camera. 🙂

Snee I use a Sony bloggie. No bells or whistles. It works good for what I do. I blog.I do need to upgrade but when I do I want something nice. I don’t shoot any scene more than once. I might do an intro twice. But what you see is it happening in real time. Think about it. If I cut the piece of wood and the shot was bad I’m not gluing it back on and re-shooting.
I here ya. Lets fire the camera guy and get another one!
I have banged on my bench before and the camera has fallen. I think I have shown that in a few vids!
As always Snee thanks for all you do.

Hey Dave – how cool are those sticks!! I will definitely have to check out Paul’s site….thanks. And you’re right, we all know someone who could use this……those corner details are great btw….

That little square is great, I keep that one on the bench always…….hey Eddie!

And congrats on all the subscribers, you know you puttin’ out good stuff……

    Keep em coming my friend…

    • David Bardin says:

      Yeah! Thanks Jeff.
He has a ton that you get without getting on the paid side.
I have tried Rob Cossmans. And just didn’t get what I was looking for. You know I am more of a traditional wood worker and Rob is into tool tech and speed. I do admire his work and methods but just not what I want to pay for.
The corners are Paul’s way to finish the unfinished. He gets into so much more detail and even spirals. I didn’t want to give away his whole show.
Yeah its starting to get a lot better.
I will more to come. The chest of drawers is still half built. She might start school before I finish it.
      As always Thanks Jeff……..
Oh I bought another EcE plane..A dovetail plane…..oh the fun…

    Very GOOD, Dave!

    COOL walking stick!

My wife uses one now… then, I got her a Walker which helps immensely… using the cane for short distances… like to the couch, chairs, etc.

Great Video even with the OOPS 🙂 … Perfect! GREAT!

    Thank you!
